Essroc Cement Corp. Whitehall, PA

Camera: Nikon n6006
Lens: 35-80mm Nikon AF Nikkor
Film: Fujicolor 400

Negative scanned w/ Canon CanoScan 8800F

Another image from the Essroc Cement Corp. set. Part of a series documenting old & abandoned buildings in the Lehigh Valley.

We had less than 30 minutes of sunlight. I'm truly surprised at not only how many shots I got off in that short amount of time, but that almost all of them came out great (as far as lighting).

My Grandfather used to work at this factory, so I find some kind of symbolic meaning in photographing these left behind buildings.

I thought this was a cement plant. Looked familiar enough. I love the lighting in this, it's so warm.

Actually, I saw this picture and thought it was a grain elevator, given that in the small town I grew up in, the "skyline" was dominated by this massive old grain elevator, a large steel silo, and some radio towers... So for me, this is also in a way, symbolic...

Thank you for sharing this and getting your DD... :pat:

Pretty shot, but it's a shame that such structures get "wasted"-i mean abandoned.
Is there a specific reason why this Corp. closed this building?

Thank you. I love that feeling of looking out over a world of concrete, only to see the nature around slowing closing in. Up there, at that moment, with that light, truly was something special.

Thanks for the appreciation man. I browsed through your stuff and it seems you're into urban exploring as well. We should link up some time & go on an adventure. I'm constantly checking out new places or trying to find them at least.

This place is getting more & more difficult to get in, but there are still ways. And while we were in we saw the local police patrolling outside, but it's all worth it to me. And it makes it more exciting! Thanks for the kind words man.
